Head's Welcome

Head of College Welcome

Welcome to Dawlish College.

It continues to be an absolute privilege to be the Headteacher at Dawlish College – the staff and students are second to none and take all of life’s challenges in their stride. Despite current uncertainties as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, we continue to hold onto our core purpose in all that we do. Behind all of the decisions taken and measures put in place sits the balance between keeping staff and students safe whilst also providing them with a varied and exciting school experience.

Dawlish College is a vibrant and exciting place to be, where we have the highest expectations of staff and students alike and seek to provide challenge at every available opportunity. As a small school, we have a very proud record of holistic support, care and individual attention: the happiness and well-being of our students is of paramount importance and is a vital foundation for their growth and development. Our college has an atmosphere of creativity and positivity that is generated by the provision of excellent opportunities for every individual thereby maximising the outcomes and improving the life chances of the young people in our care.

As a parent myself, I understand that you want your child to be inspired, supported and challenged to be the best version of themselves within an environment that knows them and values them as an individual. Thank you for entrusting me with the care and education of your child, present or future, and I look forward to unlocking their ambitions as I get to know them and work closely with you.

Newton Abbot College Sixth Form Offer

A message from NAC

As you are aware, Newton Abbot College is able to provide post-16 education to students across the Estuaries Multi-Academy Trust. We have welcomed Dawlish College students to our sixth form for the past few years and very much look forward to continuing to welcome Dawlish College students in to our learning community. We realise that now more than ever planning post-16 pathways is a daunting prospect. Newton Abbot College can offer a supportive and vibrant learning environment with a breadth of level two and three vocational, technical and academic subjects. As an Estuaries student, we can provide your child with free transport from Dawlish and the surrounding areas in order to access sixth form studies at Newton Abbot College. We believe we offer an aspirational environment which provides students with a range of challenges and opportunities to enable them to flourish as individuals. Our smaller size means we are able to have a strong focus on pastoral care and we take a holistic approach to student wellbeing. Our mission is for all sixth form students to fulfil their potential and realise their ambitions, we would love to welcome your child as part of our sixth form community in September.

Please explore what we have to offer by following https://www.nacollege.devon.sch.uk/sixth-form/subjects to access our virtual open event. You will find a welcome video which includes a virtual tour, plus detailed subject information and course specific videos. We hope you and your child like what you see and feel inspired to consider Newton Abbot College as part of your post-16 journey. As an Estuaries student your child is not required to submit a formal application. Instead, interested students should email sixthform@nacollege.devon.sch.uk. You will then be invited to complete an expressions of interest form to tell us about subject preferences, interested students will then be supported by a 1:1 pathways meeting with a member of our Sixth Form Team.

Kind regards,

Natasha Martin, Jo Doulin, Rebecca Gibbs.
