Welcome to Dawlish College.
It continues to be an absolute privilege to be the Headteacher at Dawlish College – the staff and students are second to none and take all of life’s challenges in their stride. Despite current uncertainties as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, we continue to hold onto our core purpose in all that we do. Behind all of the decisions taken and measures put in place sits the balance between keeping staff and students safe whilst also providing them with a varied and exciting school experience.
Dawlish College is a vibrant and exciting place to be, where we have the highest expectations of staff and students alike and seek to provide challenge at every available opportunity. As a small school, we have a very proud record of holistic support, care and individual attention: the happiness and well-being of our students is of paramount importance and is a vital foundation for their growth and development. Our college has an atmosphere of creativity and positivity that is generated by the provision of excellent opportunities for every individual thereby maximising the outcomes and improving the life chances of the young people in our care.
As a parent myself, I understand that you want your child to be inspired, supported and challenged to be the best version of themselves within an environment that knows them and values them as an individual. Thank you for entrusting me with the care and education of your child, present or future, and I look forward to unlocking their ambitions as I get to know them and work closely with you.

Dear Parents / Guardians,
My name is Beccy Shaw and I am the Exeter College Adviser linked with Dawlish College. As a College Adviser I can help students with their preparations for joining Exeter College after their GCSEs. I can help with queries regarding the courses on offer, entry requirements, the application and interview processes, travel, and the Exeter College academies, as well as student life and apprenticeships. Students will receive a copy of the new School Leavers’ Course Guide 2023/24, and more detailed course information can be found on our website: www.exe-coll.ac.uk
We will be holding several open events throughout Year 11, and these events are a great opportunity to learn what Exeter College has to offer. All courses will be represented at these open events, dates as follows, and students will be able to visit our city centre buildings as well as our Construction Centre at Sowton and Technology Centre at Monkerton. We suggest students register to attend on our website in advance, in order to receive an open event programme to help them to plan where to visit for their chosen courses: https://exe-coll.ac.uk/open-events/

We hold interviews on a monthly basis from November onwards, therefore we recommend that students submit their application to college by around December/January which should allow plenty of time to attend an open event and research options before deciding on a course choice. Applying and attending an interview earlier in the academic year will allow students to focus fully on their revision and exams. Students can apply online through the Exeter College website or obtain a paper copy of the application form from school. Later in the year, between GCSE results day and the start of September, students will be required to attend the college again for their enrolment appointment. This is when they confirm their place on their chosen college courses, or discuss alternative options if required. I hope you find this information useful. Please do not hesitate to contact me using the details below should you have any questions regarding Exeter College throughout the academic year.
Yours sincerely,
Beccy Shaw
College Adviser
