The Nation Citizen Service

The Nation Citizen Service (NCS) came into our Year 11 assembly last week and gave a very inspiring talk about the opportunity available to all students aged 15-17. During the summer the students can spend 4 weeks making extraordinary friendships, learning new skills and creating unforgettable memories.

The aim of NCS is to give young adults the opportunity to get ahead by having fresh experiences and learning new skills that are valuable to employers and further education organisations, such as leadership and team building. It’s also a chance to have fun and meet other young people in a safe and structured environment.

In their first week they camp in the beautiful Brecon beacons in Wales, getting to know their team mates whilst doing some exhilarating activities. During the second week they will have the chance to live away from home in university style accommodation and have fun engaging workshops on skills that will help with the transition to adulthood. The final two weeks they get the chance to put all the skills and experiences learnt into practice as a team delivering on a social action project that will really make a mark on the local community.
