Consultation to change Dawlish Community College to a Foundation School and acquiring a Charitable Trust - "The Exe Estuary Academic Co-operative Trust"

The Governing Body of the College is proposing to change its status from a community school to a foundation school and at the same time acquire a charitable trust, to be known as "The Exe Estuary Academic Co-operative Trust". This trust, which will be a co-operative trust, will hold the College's land and assets in trust, in this case with a strong mutual element. If the proposal is agreed, the Trust will come into effect on 1st September 2012.

We would like to know what you think of our plans, so we are inviting you to take part in our public consultation which can be done in any or all of the following three ways:

On this website, you will find a document produced by the Department for Education which contains frequently asked questions, with answers, in relation to schools considering Co-operative Trust Status Booklet Two.

Year 11 Leaving arrangements

All Year 11 students will be expected to attend all lessons as normal up to and including THURSDAY 24TH MAY, when students will leave the college at the end of the English Literature exam, at approximately 3:30pm. Students are still required to attend normal classes/revision sessions after this date for any subject where they still have an exam. Students who fail to do so will have their prom tickets suspended. The signing of shirts and other end of year activities will not be tolerated and students will be expected to work through until the end of their exams. Normal lessons will continue to take place after the 24th May and June half term for subjects where students still have exams to sit and teachers will spend the time revising topics and supporting students in these subjects. Students are expected to attend these sessions. Students will however be able to leave the site throughout the day as they wish, for instance at lunchtime, as long as they sign in and out.

There will be a final leavers' assembly for all of Year 11 on THURSDAY 5th July, which will be a celebration of the year and a chance for students to say goodbye to their friends and teachers in a relaxed and enjoyable way. The Yearbook and Prom tickets will be issued to all students who have paid and ordered one. The morning will also include a signing out session to "clear" students to ensure books are returned and so students can collect their exam results. The morning will start at 9:20am and finish at 11:45am when students will be expected to leave the site promptly. The Prom will be the day after on Friday July 6th.
